April 27 – Vodka Lavender Lemonade & Potato Samosas

This is my first time making samosas and I gotta say, it won’t be my last. They are so delicious, the dough is easy to make, and you can get super-creative with the fillings. They are a little time-consuming to fold so get some quarantine buddies to help out. The recipe I used is by David Tanis from NYTimes Cooking. The sauce is a mix of plain yogurt, chopped cilantro, cumin seeds, lemon juice, and salt and pepper. Or use your favorite chutney as a dipping sauce.

Vodka Lavender Lemonade

Makes 1 cocktail

  • 2 oz lemon juice

  • 1 oz simple syrup

  • 2 oz vodka

  • 1⁄2 - 1 t culinary lavender

  • 1 lemon slice

  • Sparkling water or club soda

  • Garnish with lavender sprigs and a lemon wheel

Place lemon slice, lemon juice, syrup, and lavender in a cocktail shaker. Muddle to release the lavender oil. Add the vodka and ice to the shaker. Shake 20 seconds, strain into a glass filled with ice. Top with sparkling water. Garnish with lavender sprigs and a lemon wheel.
