Apple Cider Whiskey Sour

A fall-flavored whiskey sour with cider and warm cinnamon spice makes a perfect cocktail for Thanksgiving or your next gathering.

  • 3 oz bourbon or whiskey

  • 1 oz (2 T) fresh squeezed lemon juice

  • 3 oz apple cider (or apple juice)

  • 1⁄2 oz (1 T) Cinnamon Simple Syrup (or plain simple syrup), or more to taste

  • 2 dashes Angostura or orange bitters

  • Green apple slices and a cinnamon stick, for garnish

Fill a cocktail shaker half full of ice. Add bourbon, lemon juice, cider, simple syrup, and bitters to the shaker. Shake vigorously for 20 seconds until cold. Strain into prepared glass filled with ice.

Cinnamon Simple Syrup

  • 1⁄2 c water

  • 1⁄2 c granulated sugar

  • 1 cinnamon stick

Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, lower heat and simmer 3 minutes. Let cool then remove cinnamon stick. Can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 10 days.
