Yield: 1 cocktail

Maple New York Sour

  • 2 oz whiskey or bourbon

  • 1 oz lemon juice

  • 1⁄2 oz maple syrup (or plain simple syrup)

  • 1 oz dry red wine

  • Lemon twist, for garnish

Fill a cocktail shaker half full of ice. Add whisky, lemon juice, and maple syrup. Shake 20 seconds until cold. Strain into an old fashioned or lowball glass filled with ice.

Slowly pour the red wine over the back of a soup spoon held just about the surface of the cocktail, creating a two-tone drink with red wine floating on top. Garnish with a lemon twist.
