Yield: 2 cocktails

Watermelon Paloma

  • 5 oz watermelon juice, made from about 1⁄2 cup cubed watermelon flesh

  • 4 oz tequila

  • 3 oz grapefruit juice

  • 1 oz simple syrup or agave nectar

  • 1 oz lime juice

  • Grapefruit soda water (such as La Croix), optional

  • Watermelon wedge for garnish

  • Salt for rims (optional)

Salt the rim of your glasses by placing salt on a plate. Wet the rim of the glasses with a lime wedge. Roll the rims through the sugar/chili mixture. Set aside.

Make watermelon juice by blending watermelon flesh, then straining to remove seeds and pulp.

In a cocktail shaker half filled with ice, add watermelon juice, tequila, grapefruit juice, simple syrup, and lime juice. Shake vigorously for 15 seconds. Strain into the glasses filled with ice.

Top off with grapefruit soda water if desired and garnish with a watermelon wedge
